Summerlin South Little League Wins United States World Series Championship! ⚾️💛
The Summerlin South Little League baseball team concluded their successful run at the Little League World Series on Sunday. They were crowned the United States Champions on Saturday, but fell to Chinese Taipei in the World Championship on Sunday.
Summerlin South defeated Connecticut, 8-2, to claim the U.S. title on Saturday. The team previously fell to Connecticut earlier in the tournament.
Nevada had an exciting few games leading up to the U.S. Championship. The team defeated the Great Lakes, Northwest, and Southeast region teams before falling to Connecticut the first time. Summerlin South were down to their final two outs, down 3-2, against South Carolina before Garrett Gallegos hit a three-run homerun to send his team to the United States Championship.
Summerlin South faced Chinese Taipei for the World Championship game, falling 7-0. Downtown Summerlin will host a parade for the team on Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. PT.
