Vegas Golden Knights 2026 Rookie Showcase
The Golden Knights’ prospects traveled up to San Jose to compete in the Rookie Showcase, wrapping up Rookie Camp with a 1-1-0 record in their two games.
The weekend started off with a battle against the Utah Mammoth as the Golden Knights suffered a 3-0 loss after surrendering a few power-play goals and breaking even in five-on-five play. All three tallies came in the first period, then Pavel Moysevich stood tall in net for the final 40 minutes, but Vegas’ rookies couldn’t manufacture the offense to pull off a comeback.
The second day of the weekend featured a thrilling back-and-forth affair against the Colorado Avalanche.
After going down 2-0 in the first period, Vegas got on the board in the middle frame as Trent Swick capitalized on a dish from Mateo Nobert on the rush to get within one goal.
Colorado stretched their lead to 3-1 later in the period, but Vegas responded with a goal on the man advantage when Jackson Hallum corralled his own rebound and beat Nikita Novosyolov to cut the deficit back to one heading in to the final 20 minutes.
The Avalanche found the net once again to start the third period, only for Swick to bury his second marker of the day on the power play. Viliam Kmec followed up for Vegas, drawing even at four with his slap shot off a faceoff. After Colorado reestablished their lead, Nobert forced overtime as he lit the lamp in short order following the Avalanche goal.
A scoreless overtime required a shootout to decide the winner, when Mathieu Cataford stepped up and sealed the 6-5 win for the Golden Knights with a slick backhand-forehand move in the fourth round.
