The Inaugural Season of the VGK High School Hockey League!π
The VGK High School Hockey League wrapped up its inaugural season with championship games on Friday and Saturday night.
The Minor Championship took place on Friday night at City National Arena. The Shadow Mountain Ravens (Summerlin) faced off against Red Rock (Summerlin South) for the title of minor champions.
The two teams battled hard and went into the third period tied, 1-1.
A late goal in the third period gave the Shadow Mountain Ravens a 2-1 and eventually the Minor Championship title!
The first ever VGKHSHL Minor Division Champions!
The Major Championship took place on Saturday night, also at City National Arena. The undefeated Black Mountain Miners (North Henderson) battled the Redhawks (Enterprise/Anthem) to see who would claim the first ever VGKHSHL Major Championship!
Golden Pipes himself got the championship started by singing the national anthem!
The Miners got off to a hot start with two quick goals early in the first period to give them a 2-0 lead.
The Redhawks answered back with a pair of their own goals to even the game up at 2 heading into the third period.
The Miners tallied on a third goal for the lead and an empty-netter to seal the 4-2 victory for the Major Championship title and complete the undefeated season!
