Knight Life Episode 25 Recap

Knight Life Episode 25 Recap

Just like all of you, we at the Golden Knights are doing our best to flatten the COVID-19 curve.

With that, this week’s episode of Knight Life looks a little different as we check in with the players and our broadcast team from the safety of their homes.

In-Arena host Big-D starts and closes the show (joined by his two adorable children), reminding us to stay safe and healthy during this unprecedented time.

Similarly, Golden Knights players take to the screen to share their feelings about the NHL Pause, and why it’s important for us all to practice social distancing, wash our hands and stay inside in order to get back to hockey as soon as possible.

Our first broadcaster check-in is with Rinkside Reporter Stormy Buonantony. Throughout the show, fans also hear from VGK Insider Gary Lawless, Host Daren Millard and Analyst Mike McKenna, as they maneuver a “new normal” intro-ing segments from various parts of their homes.

Not to be left out (or out-done), is former NHL defenseman and current Color Commentator Shane Hnidy, who’s working hard to keep fans in shape while the gyms are closed with the new #VGKFitChallenge.

A lot of this week’s episode, however, focuses on a different defenseman and the work he’s put in to help the Las Vegas Community.

We get a detailed look at Deryk Engelland’s Engos Heroes Foundation, which celebrates and recognizes people who go above and beyond the call of duty in the community.

“We want to thank them for what they do and all they’ve been through. They’re touching our lives in different ways,” said Engelland.

One of their heroes, Dale Darkus, also got the Engelland family involved in the Serving Our Kids Foundation, helping package and provide weekend meals for children in Southern Nevada.

Engelland was also on hand last month when a group of Make-A-Wish kids wishes to meet the Golden Knights came true!

Six children with critical illnesses from around North America got to not only watch, but participate in practice with the Golden Knights.

They sure gave Marc-Andre Fleury a run for his money in net!

One special girl, Las Vegas local Sydney, had never skated before and was afraid to hit the ice. Who better to learn from than professional hockey players?! — Cut to THE most adorable moments of defenseman Jon Merrill showing her the ropes.

Make sure to tune in to AT&T SportsNet for this episode and any you may have missed this season, plus a number of game replays!
