Knight Life Episode 26 Recap
While COVID-19 has us all experiencing a new way of life, weβre fortunate technology is keeping us connected in these trying times.
On this weekβs episode of Knight Life, we virtually check in on a few of your favorite Golden Knights players to see how they are handling βHockey at Homeβ during the NHL Pause.
AT&T SportsNet Host Stormy Buonantony guides us through one-on-one hangouts with forwards Alex Tuch and Mark Stone, and is later joined by analyst Mike McKenna for some goalie talk with netminder Marc-Andre Fleury.
We get things started with a trip to Tuchβs house, who we find enjoying some fresh air in his back yard.
Recognizing the change of scenery for the interview Tuch says, βItβs a weird time for everyone, but weβre in this together. [Iβm] just trying to stay as busy as possible, stay in shape obviously and make sure Iβm ready to go once the season resumes.β
Aside from rehab and getting back to game shape over the pause, some of the ways Tuch says heβs been keeping entertained are video game tournaments and Twitch streams, building a Vegas-themed bar in his living room and putting together, gluing and framing a number of puzzles.
βIβve done two 2,000 piece puzzles, three 1,000 piece puzzles and two 500 piece puzzles. Iβm in the middle of the Time Square 2,000 piece one right now.β
Tuch was also kind enough to give us a βCribsβ-style tour of his home giving a glimpse at what quarantine life is like for him!
Next we buzz over to Marc-Andre Fleury who was running errands at the time, but still took a break to chat.
Flower has been tasked with a lot of manual labor over the pause baby proofing his house, building a trampoline and chores, but heβs also making the most of family time, helping his wife homeschool the kiddos, dealing with diaper duty and taking the stroller along for his roller blading cardio sessions.
From a hockey standpoint Fleury said βI miss it. Iβve had a tough time filling that void. Thereβs not much else you can do that compares to the competition of playing hockey.β
With that said, he did share he recently bought a baseball throwing machine to help keep his quick-twitch reflexes sharp.
He also gives some insight as to when he returns if heβll be donning the gold or white pads, but youβll just have to watch the episode to find out that answer!
Finally, Mark Stone is in the house! Literally.
The last time we saw Stone in March he was week-to-week dealing with a lower-body injury, but says heβs at a place now where he feels good to go whenever the season resumes.
βIn my mind I was going to be out for four weeks, but now itβs been 10. Iβve been able to do the healing process a lot slower and probably more properly as I probably wouldβve tried to rush back with playoffs right around the corner.β
With VGK Classic games regularly re-airing on AT&T SportsNet, Stone was also willing to reminisce on some of his best memories as a Golden KnightβOne of which was that the night he scored his first career hat trick, his most memorable part of the day was not putting up three goals for the first time in an NHL game, but rather Tiger Woods winning the Masters earlier in the day!
While Stone and the VGK continue to play the waiting game in terms of getting back on the ice, this episode of Knight Life was a great opportunity to get a look at how players are handling and making the most of their unique challenges during this time.
We all miss hockey and canβt wait for live game action to return, but until then weβve got you covered on AT&T SportsNet and the Vegas Golden Knights linear and social media channels for your regular hockey fix.
