KNIGHT LIFE EPISODE 14 RECAP: Fathers Trip Edition

KNIGHT LIFE EPISODE 14 RECAP: Fathers Trip Edition

Golden Knights players were joined on the road for games in Vancouver and San Jose recently by the men who first helped them lace up their skates and Knight Life give you a behind the scenes pass to the action.

Rinkside Reporter Stormy Buonantony opens the episode by chatting with Golden Knights owner Bill Foley who hosted the players and their fathers at three of his wineries in Sonoma, California: Foley Sonoma, Roth Estate and Chalk Hill Estate.

“Our whole goal with the team when we created the culture—the Knight’s culture—was to make it a family affair. We’re all in it together… I’m really pleased that they had a chance to bring their dad’s up, [they] could see the places and they could enjoy everything with their dad.”

Next we sit down with our first of two father son duos this episode—the Pacioretty’s! And what would any dad’s trip be without some embarrassing stories?!

When Golden Knights forward Max Pacioretty’s father Raymond was asked his favorite hockey memory of Max throughout his career, the answer got a little dicey… so much so that Max let out a “You’re not putting this on there!”

The father-son back and forth continued in the VGKs first-ever edition of “Mean Tweets,” as the dads read harsh Twitter posts about their sons to their sons.

“Find someone who loves you as much as Shea Theodore loves not having a full set of teeth”, read Cam Theodore.

“What if it’s mom?” Shea said in response.

Later, netminder Malcolm Subban and his father Karl took time away from the festivities to talk all things family and hockey.

“I have another son in the NHL so I’ve been on some dad’s trips and they’re all very good, but I think the experience today tops it all!… It’s been just a fantastic time.”

Karl also shared that while he couldn’t be more proud of all that Malcolm has accomplished in reaching his dreams, the biggest challenge he had as a parent, was trying to STOP Malcolm from becoming a goalie.

“I remember his first game at goalie. I’ll never forget it. I really couldn’t watch him play, but I’m happy it worked out for him and I’m happy I got out of his way so he was able to do what he loved to do. His dream took a hold of him and there’s no way I could’ve separated him from it.”

In addition to time reacquainting with their sons on the Father’s Trip, many of the dads were also put to work!

For example, Will Carrier’s father Andre helped handle media availability duties in place of VGK Insider Gary Lawless.

Andre even had the guts to ask head man in charge, Gerard Gallant, about his son’s ice time!

“William’s doing a great job for us,” said Gallant. “He’s playing hard, competes hard, plays the same game every night… And a smarter coach would play him a bit more!”

Before the episode comes to a close, fans get a sneak peak in to the Father’s Suite on game day to watch their sons play as well as the Knight Vision Top Plays from the first half of the season.
