Nate Schmidt Named To Cathedral Athletic Hall Of Fame

Minnesota native and Golden Knights defenseman Nate Schmidt was recently one of five athletes to be named into the 2020 class of the Cathedral Athletic Hall of Fame.

Schmidt spent three total seasons playing hockey at St. Cloud Cathedral. During the 2008-2009 season, his third and final season playing with the Crusaders, Schmidt was the second leading scorer among all defensemen in the state, collecting 45 points (21 G, 24 A) in just 25 games.

During his senior year, Schmidt played in the USHL with the Fargo Force before graduating in 2010 and making the transition to college hockey with the Minnesota Gophers.

After three seasons with the Gophers, Schmidt signed as a free agent with the Washington Capitals to start his pro career.

Congrats, Nate!
